Bug Description

In the demo.mahara.org when using the text box block the spell check button doesn't appear in Internet Explorer - tried in IE 8 and 9 with Windows Vista. (See attachment)

I tried with Firefox 5 in Windows Vista and the spell checker showed but it didn't highlight mispelt words - I have tried with Firefox 5 with diffeernt OS and it works.

Is there something that needs to be setup in the browser for the spell checker to work?

cheers
Craig

I'm a bit confused between this and the bug fix thread. Is there a solution to this? Is there a bugfix that we can implement now? Will this be an issue until 1.5 etc...?

Thanks

Oh, and I don't see the importance being low - students and lecturers want to be able to spell check what they have written and only have access to IE within the college (I have Firefox, but other machines don't). If they can't spellcheck their work, they're less likely to use it.

Hi William,

There is a patch for this but it's currently not working.

When it's fixed, it will be in a new major release (1.5 at the earliest) because we don't add new features to stable branches as per our release policy:

  https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/Developer_Area/Release_Policy#Point_Release

I have bumped the importance back to medium based on your explanations.

Cheers,
Francois

Changed Tiny-Mce default spellchecker to aspell

If aspell is found on the system use it for spellchecking.
    Otherwise use GoogleSpell.

    Bug#812030

Also renamed the error() function in htdocs/js/tinymce/plugins/spellchecker/includes/general.php
to mceError() because it conflicts with the mahara defined error() function.
