Bug Description

Filing this by hand since the hook is broken (bug 811700 - there apport did work, so get my hardware info from there).

Since rebooting today the nvidia driver stopped working.

Trying to load the module by hand, 'modprobe nvidia' tells me 'No such module' and 'modprobe nvidia-current' ends with 'No such device'.

I tried going back to 3.0.0-4 where the driver worked fine, but it doesn't work there anymore either.

Ok, the problem seems to be that nouveau gets loaded even though it's blacklisted. Seems like it somehow found it's way into the initrd image.

sudo rm /lib/modules/3.0.0-5-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau.ko
sudo update-initramfs -k $(uname -r) -u
sudo shutdown -r now

and the nvidia driver works again, but that's not much of a workaround...

Also, someone please reassign this bug to whatever broke this.
