Website login just hangs in Firefox (but works on Windows)

Trying to log into https://www.starone.org in Firefox 5.0. Even with all add-ons removed, login just hangs forever, whether I put in my real account number or a fake one (which should give me a prompt error message. With Windows XP or 7, Firefox 5 can do this just fine, even with my regular add-ons. I am using Natty-x86. I tried disabling the firewall, too. Website manager claims other Linux users have no problems as long as they accept cookies (done) and enable JavaScript (done).

Thanks for reporting this problem. Are you still experiencing this issue after updating to the latest version of firefox (currently 6.0.1)?

Yes, no change with 6.0.1, even without any add-ons. The webmaster
assures me that users of "Linux" and Firefox have no problems logging
in, so I am still wondering whether this is specific to Ubuntu. Can you
reproduce the behavior?
