Document Viewer UI unreadable in Hebrew (characters replaced by square blocks)

I get the following warnings when I run evince from a terminal.

It doesn't happen with any specific document. As you will see from the attached screenshot, the boxes appear in the user-interface. That is, dialogues, menus, buttons, etc.

Seems fixed in Oneiric 11.10
