Laptop Xp home Edition, versions 2002, Service Pack 3.
Intel Atom
CPU N280 @ 1.66GHz
0.99 GB RAM

Duplicate of 691013. This seems to almost always be due to lower end graphics hardware (usually integrated Intel chipsets). Make sure drivers are updated 'from the manufacturer's' site (not Microsoft update). Can also try disabling shaders in the config.ini.
