Resizing inaccuracies

Manual resizing with proportion lock off, say to 512.000 width or 1.000 height, is inaccurate.

Example: Start with a 100 px by 111 px object. Try to resize it to 512.000 by 1.000. On Mac, Windows, and Linux, Inkscape will resize it to 511.997 by 1.012 or some other nonsense. The user must alternate asserting 512.000 width! 1.000 height! several times before the object becomes those dimensions.

1) Which Inkscape version(s) have been used for the bug report.

2) Questions about settings/selection:
- Do you happen to use the geometric bounding box mode? (default is visual bbox).
- Do you have stroke scaling on or off?
- Do you refer to resizing (horizontal/vertical) lines only, or objects/selections in general?

I've noticed this problem through several versions of Inkscape, on Mac, Windows, and Linux. It happens whenever I resize an object (typically from an SVG from www.openclipart.org, but don't blame them) using the Width and Height fields.

Reproduced when resizing a single group (e.g. of rectangles) in Inkscape 0.46, 0.47 and 0.48.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.8, with default settings (visual bbox mode).
When resizing individual paths or shapes, or a selection with several objects, only reproduced in geometric bbox mode, Inskcape 0.47 and 0.48.1.
Both issues no longer reproduced with 0.48+devel r10450 (reiszing is ok, but the visual bbox atm doesn't correspond to the rendered stroke, bug #805793
