This is not the first time that this has happened. In fact, lately it has been a regular occurrence. I checked with winehq and they inform me that they submit only source to the distribution center. Preparation of these updates needs review and or revision.
This can, with risk which I consider small, be overridden when running from console, but not from update-manager which simply refuses unless the offending units are unchecked.
