Bug Description

Hello,

First, let's say i am a mouse user, so i use inkscape mainly with mouse, rarely using shortcuts. I feel there is some ergonomic problems for such a use. For example, when using the node editor mode, you double-click on a shape or a line to edit its nodes, but when you have finished, you can exit the edition of the current shape, but you stay in node edition mode.
There is no mouse action to come back to selector mode, you have to click on the selector mode button if you want to do so. This is the same with text-edition for instance, and i think this would be a great feature to create a mouse action that make you come back to the selector mode, this would make all mouse users happy! ;)

A possibility would be, for node edition, to come back to selector mode if you click out of any shape (on an empty place). Another idea would be to bind the double-click or the third button click.

Regards

Replying on behalf of Josh Andler (ScislaC):
A simple tap of the space bar will get you back to the selector tool (and allows to toggle between the select tool and the prior used node or shape tool [1]). Yes, it's not mouse only, but it's the easiest shortcut possible to utilize until someone looks into a mouse only approach.

I just filed a duplicate bug for the same reason. Shame on me!
I see it is potentially a personal preference but the most objective point I can make about it is:

It is a one-way shortcut behaviour that offers no similar way back.
Isn't the whole POINT of having this feature to save the extra step to change modes manually? Why just save one way?
The space shortcut seems more like a workaround since it isn't exactly undoing your action.

Is there a problem with having a "way out" shortcut like a second double click or a click in the empty space?
