The choice between single or double-click, currently in nautilus, should be a global option in gnome

Bug Description

Currently I can choose if I want single or double click by default only in nautilus, while such a setting is needed also in other applications, e.g. beagle. In my opinion, it would be useful if this preference could be implemented as a global gnome setting, perhaps in the mouse preferences dialog, and read by other applications.

I can agree with this.

I don't personally use single click, but after setting a laptop up for someone who does I ran into this. it took me a while to find the single / double click because i was expecting it to come under mouse settings.

I agree with this too!
Is important the consistency of the clicks (as Windows).
The problem is of GTK Library:

But I think that this bug should be fixed in Ubuntu.
