Bug Description

I'm testing Oneiric Alpha 2 - image: http://cdimage.ubuntu.co./releases/oneiric/alpha-2 (64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CD).
My laptop is a HP G62.
Every time I boot my laptop an log on to oneiric alpha 2, after a few seconds I get the error in image1.
If I try to report the bug I get error in image2.
I actually can't figure out what is making zeitgeist daemon close unexpectedly.

Thanks for your report.

Could you please update your system as suggested by the crash dialog and see if the problem still occurs. This crash is probably caused by bug 793714 which is fixed in the latest version of zeitgeist.

To upgrade your system from the command line, open a terminal and run the following commands:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Thanks in advance.

I ran sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade from the command line, but when I rebooted to complete updates, I got the logon screen asking me to log on, but the laptop is like freezed, I cannot log on or do anything else, on the top right corner of the screen instead of icons I've go two white rectangles with a red cross in them.

When I saw this the first time, I re-installed the iso again (formatted the HD partition and installed it clean), when I saw that the zeitgeist message appeared again I reopened the command line and re-entered the two commands: sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, rebooted to complete updates, but the same problem occured:

I've got the logon screen asking me to logon, but I can't do anything.
I have to switch off the laptop by pressing the power button.

Carla, Same issues here. My keyboard, touchpad and even power button is not working.

I don't think the problem we both are facing is a Zeitgeist issue.

The problem with mouse/keyboard not working is bug 807306.
I'm closing this report about zeitgeist because I believe it is fixed is the latest release (bug 793714). You should read the forementioned bug report for a workaround and subscribe to it.

Thanks and don't hesitate to submit any new bug.
