Bug Description
I had just installed the brother-extra drivers yesterday to print on an MFC-260C. This could have been my first reboot since the installation. The crash happened during gnome session initialization, I did not submit a print job.
Even though Google lead me to believe that Brothers does have GPL'd drivers for this printer and other printers, it seems that these are only partial stubs supplemented by proprietary code which will probably make this issue unfixable. I'd advise anyone to buy their printer from a company that supports free drivers:

This is not a bug in Ubuntu, but in the printer driver package from Brother. So we cannot fix anything here. Please check for a newer driver version on Brother's web site.
