Bug Description

IRC names "ubuntu-classroom" and "ubuntu-classroom-chat" is nice info, but like it is now it is not just an info, it looks like a very important info. I suggest to make smaller fonts, probably just remove bold if it is used. Also remove "-" character and use ":" instead. I am just wondering if this kind of info is required or is it just a spam info. Maybe instead of adding this irc names it should be removed and just add some help in Help menu describing which irc channels are used, which irc server, port etc.

These IRC channel names may not be important for standard, English-speaking classroom sessions, but as both ClassBot and Lernid make it further in the international world and we pursue our intent to allow it to be used for special events in other channels I think having the channel name there is important so people know they're in the right place.

I agree that it can be in a smaller, non-bold font.

In this case the main problem is there is no info in which event some user is connected at. This kind of problem could be solved by adding additional info in title bar. Now there is only "Lernid" info, adding info about event the user is connected to would simplify the user knowing if he/she is at the right place.

And also it depends what kind of user is using Lernid. If he/she is a computer literate this IRC name can be helpful. But if Lernid is used for other non-computing events this info is just a disturbing info. I think the responsibility of correct classroom and chatroom should be on the person that is organizing the event and not each individual user. In this case there is probably better way to have some kind of log, like adding Edit | Log to see what is happening (adding irc names, irc server, ports and other technical info that can help computer literate user to get debug info), but I am not very convinced Lernid needs one.

I don't really want this particular information to be bold, and I intend to change it sometime in the future.

Thanks for the bug report!

One thing that would also be nice would be if lernid didn't just deal with channels as 'ubuntu-classroom' and then convert it to '#ubuntu-classroom' in the background. The # should be displayed everywhere the channel name is. Otherwise, you will run into some confusion with channels like ##ubuntu-classroom (## is very common in channel names on freenode). It also would allow lernid to eventually be used on some other networks that use different channel prefixes. This would also make it more clear to users with some prior IRC experience that these are channel names being displayed.

Nathan, I do agree, if IRC names are displayed then it should be added # character to make it clear what is official irc channel name. But maybe we could also add on mouse over help tips and explain what this channel is all about.

I am not sure what type of explanation you are thinking of. There is a pending bug requesting that the /topic for the two channels be displayed. That is really the best description of what each channel is. This also has the advantage of not requiring translators to have to worry about the strings.
