Bug Description

When trying to start inkscape I get the following errormessage:
Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now.
I've worked with Inkscape perfectly the last month. Yesterday I tried to start the program and the message occurred. I de-installed the program and downloaded the newest version. But still I cannot start the program. The operating system is Windows XP.
Thanks for your help.
Regards, Rubins

Does the crash only happen when you launch Inkscape by double-clicking a specific file in the explorer (crash due to a corrupt file), or also occur if you launch Inkscape itself - without any file?

a) If the crash is related to certain files only, please attach one of them here to the report to allow further investigation.
b) If Inkscape itself fails to launch (with an error message like "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."), completely shut down your computer, wait a minute or two, reboot and try again (bug #453931).

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I've just resolved the problem. It was caused because I had a mouse and a tablet connected at the same time. Only with the mouse or the tablet, it starts up wonderfull.

Odd - this certainly should not cause Inkscape to crash on launch. Proposing to keep this report open for now - maybe other users can reproduce it?

Could you provide some details about the tablet and installed drivers?

Same startup problem here.
I downloaded the Inkscape-0.48.1-2.exe installer and installed it. Gives me the "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now." error message.
I also have a bamboo tablet, but it isnt connected. Tried uninstalling the bamboo driver and then reinstalling inkscape but that didnt help.

Hi.

I have the same problem here.

It used to work perfectly for months and now it won't even open. No specific file and not through simple double-click.
I de-installed everythign and downloaded the newest version. still nothing. Installation finished without problem.
What to do? I have windows 8.1

Thank you,

Hi there, just wondering, if you're under 64 bit operating system why not use the 64 bit version of Inkscape? https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/item/3956/inkscape-0.91-x64.msi

Is this crash still happening? You can also try different versions from Inkscape for instance portableApps http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/inkscape_portable

Please let us know if this behavior is still going on.
