Kupfer doesn't work until I click the workspace

Right after I logon, I wait for the icon to be ready and displayed on the top gnome panel. When so, I press repeatedly ctrl-space, but nothing happens. I even wait 1 minute more, but Kupfer is not open when ctrl-space is pressed.

Only after I use the mouse to click on the current workspace, Kupfer actually opens correctly. After that it works OK.
