dtv dongle gold configured - mythtv tells me there is no dongle or card

Depending on circumstances this can be either of

a) missing kernel support for your card (no driver and no /dev/dvb/adapter* device nodes)
does the dongle work with other software?

b) a kernel bug that gets triggered by mythtv-setup, http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/10830 a fix has made it into kernel 3.9 IIRC
are you getting an error message "FE_GET_INFO ioctl failed (/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0) eno: No such device (19)"?

c) some form of misconfiguration
that would be best discussed in a different support channel than a bug tracker
