Bug Description

<!-- test.html -->
<title>Test page title</title>
<h1>Test page heading</h1>
<!-- end text.html -->

2. "firefox test.html"
You may need to hit F5 to get orca working with firefox, due to an unrelated bug.

3. You should hear something along the lines of
"Test page title page loaded"
"Test page heading heading level 1"
"Test page heading heading level 1"

Expected result: page heading should be read once only.

I think the second time it reads the heading, it's starting to read the entire document. It's not clear in this test though, because there isn't any other content :-).

Hi Alan, thanks for your bug reports.

I will go through all your bug reports in more detail later, when I have some more time, but I think a lot of these bugs should be filed against orca upstream, as they are not Ubuntu specific. if you are unsure, let me know and I can have a closer look when I get a chance.

Orca's bug tracker is on bugzilla.gnome.org.

Thanks

Luke

Thanks for replying! I was going to post a summary + link to the a11y list, and check if I was doing roughly the right thing.

I needed to get them out of my head. Launchpad seemed a very accepting place to put them :-).

I'm still a bit hazy on how all this is implemented and integrated into Ubuntu. I can certainly re-test & report for upstream versions of orca + metacity + firefox.

There's one Unity-specific bug, #801218 "Alt+f4 in firefox also closes orca (Unity only)".

Also #802546, "Certain table navigation shortcut (e.g. in firefox) is overriden by gnome "expose windows" shortcut". I think that's an integration issue, and the shortcut in question isn't necessarily enabled in the upstream compiz defaults. I'm not going to install an upstream Gnome environment just to confirm that. Ideally, when Orca is running it should get priority for this specific keyboard shortcut, but I suspect that's easier said than done.

Ok, I've re-tested on Orca 3.1.3pre from Git and reported upstream (or commented as "seems fixed in latest Git").

There's one other bug I've left for the time being, bug #803004 (ARIA grid cells always read as empty). It's probably a firefox bug, and I'm not sure whether upstream Orca would welcome such a report.
