jmol applet does not work

Bug Description

the sample applet in the jmol page http://jmol.sourceforge.net/index.en.html seems to inicialice but after a few seconds the windows applet turns grey and nothings happends.

trying to run applets at the Protein Data Bank, for example http://www.rcsb.org/pdb/explore/jmol.do?structureId=1D3Z it is even worse. Sometimes I just get a black window or sometimes firefox crash or hangs.
