Bug Description
During installation of 11.04, over old system I had, the isntall failed every time with user-visible error ""ubi-partman failed with exit code 141" before showing partitioning options. The last line in the syslog is:
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/
Syslog also complained before the crash about being unable to mount RaserFS partition due non-empty journal. The syslog contained entries similar to:
ubuntu kernel: [ 2868.927014] REISERFS warning (device sda6): clm-2076 journal_
ubuntu kernel: [ 2868.927022] REISERFS warning (device sda6): reiserfs-2006 journal_init: Replay Failure, unable to mount
ubuntu kernel: [ 2868.927117] REISERFS warning (device sda6): sh-2022 reiserfs_
ubuntu ubiquity: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda6,
Eventually, I've found a workaround (which also proved connection): manually mounting than unmount each of the problematic volumes (straight from the installer) immediately fixed the problem, and re-run of the failed state succeeded.
