"Connected to internet" doesn't become green when I connect to a network

Bug Description

On being shown the "Preparing to install Ubuntu" page in the installer, I realised that I wasn't connected to the internet (red circle), so I chose a network and authenticated. When network manager showed me I was connected, the red circle didn't change to green and therefore "Download updates while installing" remained insensitive even though I had internet access now.

Pressing "Back" and then "Install Ubuntu" still didn't change the red circle to green. Selecting "Quit" hung the installer and only doing `killall ubiquity` in VT1 caused a restart of the session, this time with the circle green :)

What version of ubiquity was this? Was there a captive portal between you and the Internet?

Isn't this a known issue in the Alpha 1 image of Oneiric, due to status code changes in network-manager? That's assuming 11.10 is what you were trying to install, rather than any other version.

Hi Bredan, you are indeed correct, I was using the Oneiric Alpha 1 cd image and therefore it could very well be that it was just the new network-manager. Feel free to close this bug if it's Ubiquity has already been updated for the new codes.

I also ran into some trouble when installing 11.10. This was beta1 that I downloaded 9/2/2011 evening. The install listed the install requirements including "Connected to Internet". But it didn't provide a chance to connect. The pop-up box with a message saying that wireless networks were available would pop up a few times - but much to fast to do anything with it.

Oh, work-around is to do the try it button instead of the install directly . Then when running from CD connect and install.

ubi-prepare is now properly linked to Network Manager. Disabling the network in Network Manager instantly changes the page, connecting to a network instantly enables "Download updates while installing".
