Bug Description
In a windows environment when the power management triggers to turn off the monitor, it makes the video card stop sending a signal and the monitor and it turns off when it senses there is no signal.
Under Mint, the monitor just become darkened but the backlights still remain on. IE the pixels are closed but the light is still on.
Wouldnt it be better if mint actually told the video card to stop sending a signal. That way the monitor would turn off completely.

somewhat random behaviour in fully upgraded mint katya. sometimes the monitor is turned off completely, in most cases it's just darkened
