Unity launcher blocks Compiz screen edge detection

This is a problem between Unity and Compiz. I use the bottom left edge to show Expo. It works correctly when a window is maximized and the Unity bar is hidden. Whenever the Bar is open, the edge behaves like it's covered by the bar and therefore doesn't work.
