Unable to drop items on program launch bar when window is maximized

When a windows is maximized, the program launch bar along the left edge of the screen is hidden.

Usually, moving the mouse past the screen edge makes the program bar reappear.

Unfortunately, this is not the case when you are dragging an item from another application wishing to drop it on a program icon laying on the launch bar: the bar does not appear, preventing you from doing drag-n-drop between programs.

I can't reproduce this bug. As soon as drag and drop starts, launcher appears.
Can you give us more information?

Actually I found out it is not happening every time.

I could reproduce it several times this way, even if not every time:

1) Open nautilus on home and maximize
2) Using the app launcher on the left (+ sign) launch GIMP
Now you have GIMP in the front and you can see nautilus behind it.
3) Click on a file icon in nautilus and begin dragging => the app launcher bar does not appear.
Actually, it won't come out anymore, even if I eventually stop dragging and just move the mouse out the edge of the screen
Even Ctrl-tabbing to other applications won't let me see the app lauch bar anymore.
The only way to make it appear again is to un-maximize nautilus.

Other info: I also have Chrome open and maximized.

I followed the exact steps as you said, but I can't reproduce this issue. The launcher opens up for me, immediately when I start dragging. Could you confirm if you're running the latest version of Unity (3.8.14) ?

@Bilal I can confirm this bug, I don't know if the problem is the dnd or if it breaks out anyway!
