cursor up key not working

I just found out that when after the logging out the xserver is restarted the cursor up key works. When I do no restart xserver it does not.

The xserver has a patch that caches xkbcomp data, and I've disabled it for testing. Get the packages from here, once they're built:

and test if you can reproduce it with it.
