Bug Description
The kernel udebs do not appear to include proper modules in the kernel udebs as the installer does not see the NIC device when the installer starts up. USB drivers also appear to be missing as the kernel doesn't see any USB devices plugged into the board.

in natty/ti-omap4 the lan is built-in:
[flag@newluxor ubuntu-natty]$ grep SMSC95XX debian/ build/build- omap4/. config USB_NET_ SMSC95XX= y
CONFIG_
so you should get the NIC by default.
are you perhaps using gcc 4.6? unfortunately, it seems it kills usb* even on omap4 (see also https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ linux/+ bug/791552)
