This process crashes for me either when the machine comes out of sleep mode or dbus-daemon gets restarted. I don't know which, but it looks like hcid handles getting disconnected from D-BUS poorly

I think I had just done a suspend(not hibernate)-resume cycle when this
happened.

I think it is worth having a test-drive with bluez-utils-3.9 and the latest D-Bus low-level library. It might be fixed or we have a really ugly bug sleeping somewhere.
