Invoking Banshee right afterward from the menu did not generate the same error. Will advise if I can get this to repeat itself.

And just plugged in my Sansa again, and have the same error:

Have you tried to run the next commands in a terminal:

$ cd ~/.config/banshee-1
$ sqlite3 banshee.db ".dump" > dump
$ mv banshee.db banshee.db.backup
$ cat dump | sqlite3 banshee.db

Then please check if banshee works again,
