Bug Description

The xml given on this page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts
by Obi Bok
if it is put in ~/.fonts.conf file , then hindi and many other languages are not displayed in google chrome browser.
Square and boxes appear instead.

Checked it on Ubuntu 9.10 - 11.04 and all versions of Google Chrome.

If that xml is removed , then google chrome shows hindi fonts fine.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Does the same thing happen in our chromium-browser package?

For testing this bug , ttf-mscorefonts-installer should be installed from synaptic.

And then the xml file from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts should be used.

Yes, chromium-browser package also has the same problem.

Since launchpad is not following upstream bug report updates, I have updated it manually.
