Setting up mysql-server-5.1 (5.1.54-1ubuntu4) ...
start: Job failed to start
invoke-rc.d: initscript mysql, action "start" failed.

 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

the thing has beeen messing with my server and giving false /negative,s as well as changing the course of the stream in to my computer and its weird as the message,s go there all like i said false /neg,s any way is there a patch for this and how canyou download it and please do this o.s im using is dream linux built on either 10.4 or 10.10 base who now,s any more thank you wes .

As far as I can see this bug is not Confirmed - switching back to 'New' and marking as importance 'Medium' as we seem to see this issue alot.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Please could you attach output from the following commands to this bug report:

  sudo ps -aef | grep mysqld
  sudo initctl list

and the following log files:

  /var/log/mysql/*.log

Please could you also try to restart mysql-server to see if this issue re-occurs.
