kopete history plugin is enabled but nonfunctional

Kopete in Kubuntu seems to ship with the history plugin enabled by default. This plugin however, is checked in the configure plugin boxes, but doesn't work. In order to properly enable it, it must be unchecked and the settings applied, then reactivated.

I'm had troubles with the history plugin, too. The plugin was loaded and checked but it didn't log messages. I followed the instructions above and the plugin started to work. Before I disabled and reenabled the plugin the ~/.kde/share/apps/kopete/logs was missing and no conversations were logged.

Confirmed in kubuntu feisty. This is preventing me from using kopete, since I would like to trust that the history is being saved. Luckily I didn't lose too much history before discovering this...
