Thanks for your report. This looks like a kernel bug instead of an ubiquity bug. Can you please supply the output of sudo 'lspci -vv', 'sudo lspci -vvn' and 'sudo dmidecode' ? Thanks.

Please file a new bug report at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug (do not attach your details to any existing bug) and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. To help the developers understand what went wrong, include the following detail in your bug report, and attach the files /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman:

well, i'll try again later running the live cd of herd2, and check
integity, and to dump the installer error.
right now i'm trying to make the mini iso of 6.10 run...
lol. I installed xubuntu, and it didnt ask for a new user... so I had
to run a live cd and add it manually. forgot to place the new user on
the admin group. doing it now.

Sorry, I can't reconstruct the erronious situation.
I reorganized the partitioning of my two hard disks.
Perhaps one reason was that I tried to install Ubuntu
above 140GB on a 160 GB HD.

Checking the Ubuntu CD with 6.06.1 downloaded and burned
on 22.12.2006 leads to: Check finished, 0 checksums failed.
But there was a long pause of approx. 2 minutes while checking
./casper/filesystem.squashfs.
The reason may be attemps to correct reading errors,
with late success.
