GNU time command not accepting options

Bug Description

Binary package hint: time

ii time 1.7-21 The GNU time program for measuring cpu

when I type
$ time -o test.txt ls
I get
-bash: -o: command not found

It seems that the time command is not accepting
any options as the man page says it should. There is no
way to use the command to output timing data in a script
to a log file without the ability to use the -a and -o options.

This happens on Dapper and Edgy

Hi,
is it true when you use /usr/bin/time? Bash has it's own version for time.
