Bug Description

Ubuntu software suggested that I report the crash of FireFox and attach the bug report. I am doing this to help out. Thanks for all the great work producing Ubuntu. I just have one application from Windows that I would like to run using WINE.

I've never had a problem with the Wine webpage. Do you have a crash report that can help us fix this issue?

Thank you for the bug report.

Could you please install firefox-dbg (these are the firefox debugging symbols) and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs
This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Most importantly:

Are you able to reproduce this or was it a one time crash?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I will install the firefox-dbg and try to obtain the
backtrace when I get home tonight. I am at work now and I don't have any
VNC or other access to my system at home from work. FireFox has crashed a
few times lately. Which didn't happen at all until after some recent
updates.

Thanks for writing.

Bob

I allowed the creation of a bug report when it was offered after FireFox
crashed. I will send it to you if you like - Chris Burgman also requested a
copy. Are you working with him on this?

I can't send it at the moment because I am at work and the machine that had
the crash is at home. I will send it tonight.

OK,

I did the apt get thing and the install on the firefox bug catcher went OK
but when I tried to start firefox from the command line all I got was

a (gdb) prompt
and the log file created was empty just a (gdb)

doesn't sound too useful...

I will try running that from the firefox directory?

In the comment above I should mention that FireFox doesn't start after putting in the line

firefox -g 2>&1 | tee ~/Desktop/gdb-firefox.log

I just get back to the

(gdb)

prompt

If I try the command in sudo mode

sudo firefox -g 2>&1 | tee ~/Desktop/gdb-firefox.log

I get a little reprimand

You should really not run firefox through sudo WITHOUT the -H
Anyway, I'll do as if you did use the -H option.

Doesn't seem like I am catching any bugs... but then again there was no crash while running FireFox this time either.
