Thanks for your report.

From the log the error is
"""
One or more files have been altered since installation.

Uninstall will not be completed. See /etc/ati/fglrx-uninstall.log for details
"""

Could you please check the log file mentioned in the error to see what's wrong.
I'm closing this report because it is the intended behavior to not remove user modified files.

Wait - how do you know THEY modified the file??? At least have teh OP validate their actions before invalidating this.

I just had my 10.04 update from Linux 2.6.32.32 to 2.6.38.10 - a pretty major jump. I have never seen thins increment in updates. It was made available in the normal Update manager.

I tried to manually do a hardware Driver check and the FGLRX ws not activated. In trying to update it fails and I was told to see jockey.log.

@emarkay, your problem looks different. The kernel version jump is a mistake https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-announce/2011-June/000854.html in lucid-proposed which have been fixed by now. It is not recommended to run a system with -proposed enabled permanently as it is for testing purpose and may introduce failures. I you get an error with fglrx and the right kernel in -proposed (2.6.32.x) could you please file a new report.

@loban, if after verifying the content of /etc/ati/fglrx-uninstall.log you confirm that you didn't changed the files manually or think that it is a bug, don't hesitate to reopen this report.
