Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

I open Software Center from the Launcher. I put the mouse cursor on the bottom border and drag down to increase the vertical size. When I release the mouse button, the Software Center window simply disappears.

This happens every time I try to start and increase the vertical size of the window. It does not happen when increasing the horizontal size of the window.

Hi Mark, thanks for your report. Is this reproducible every time you try? After this happens, does Software Center relaunch normally? If you have a moment I'd like to ask you to gather some additional info to help us to debug this problem. Please open a terminal window and launch Software Center from there as shown below (note, no 'sudo'). Then, recreate the bug and paste any output in the terminal to this report.

    $ software-center

Many thanks!

Yes, it is happening every time I try to vertically resize the Software Center. It does restart normally afterwards.

I've attached the output from starting software center in a terminal. While doing this, I noticed that the terminal would crash when resized vertically too. Also, so did my battery monitor (launched from the battery icon on the panel).

This crash happens almost every time.

Also, the programs were not crashing when resized on the external monitor. They only crashed on the built-in monitor. I will attach a diagram showing the layout of the monitors.

This bug would seem to have an X component. Could you please run
“apport-collect -p xorg 792150” from a terminal to collect and attach
the relevant X information?

I can't off the top of my head think of an obvious reason for this
behaviour; hopefully your logs will contain some clues.
