Binary package hint: update-manager
This is a bug affecting my Update Manager & my Synaptic Package Manager.

E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

I am unable to run system upgrade or install software.
This error occurs any time I open either of the previously mentioned package installers.
