Bug Description

Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.1

Ubuntu Version: 10.04 LTS
mysql-server-5.1 version: 5.1.41-3ubuntu12 (AFAIK the last one)

The crash happens when using some tools that does "SHOW ENGINE INNODB STATUS" queries like the mighty "innotop".

A fix and the detailed description of the issue can be found on the mysql bug tracker: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=38883

The fix has been incorporated in the 5.1.42 release of mysql.

This issue is critical for production servers running mysql, since innodb cannot be monitored which is a huge problem for production servers!
