Bug Description

(New Ubuntu user, sorry for any ignorance.)
Computer is Sony Vaio F Series VPCF1390X
Computer is Sony Vaio S Series VPCS13L9E
Running Ubuntu 11.04, installed May 6, 2011

When I select "Suspend" or "Hibernate" from the menu at the upper right of the screen, the screen goes blank, but the fan keeps running, and ramps up after several seconds. I have let it run for a few minutes, and it does not stop on its own. Pressing the power button briefly does nothing. The only thing I can do that does anything is to hold the power button until the machine shuts down.

From this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Laptop/Sony/Vaio/FSeries/Natty, I expect suspend and hibernate to work just fine for 11.04 on this machine.

Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

It happens also with other laptops see here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/772834
