Ubuntu 11.10 desktop i386 installer shows a blue screen

Bug Description

I have already sync the desktop i386 iso from cdimage and the installer shows a blue screen and then the installer is not shown.

I can reproduce this on AMD64 with Intel GM956

and when trying to manually start Ubiquity with GTK interface, it say, "failed to copy user's xathority file" or something like that, don't remember it exactly.

Reproduced in Virtualbox 4.0.8.

Issue seems to be missing .Xauthority in $HOME.

Workaround:

alt+ctrl+f1 to get to terminal

touch .Xauthority && DISPLAY=":0.0" ubiqtuity&
