Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
I use Empathy to connect to google chat (I use text messages only, not voice or video) to communicate with my colleagues. Often but not always, after I have disconnected and reconnected (for instance because I took my laptop to a conference room), I find that a number of previously unreceived messages suddenly appear. Sometimes these messages are days late. Sometimes they appear as messages that are part of the current conversation, and sometimes they appear as messages that are part of a previous conversation (greyed out).

What I expect to happen:
Colleague using the gmail web interface to google chat types a text message to me and sends it. I receive that message in empathy via my google talk account within moments.
What happens instead:
Colleague using the gmail web interface to google chat types a text message to me and sends it. Nothing happens that is apparent to me. At some later time, I disconnect empathy from my google talk account (via any method: shutdown of the system, disconnecting the system from the network, closing empathy, setting status to "Offline"), and then reconnect it to my google talk account. Then, seconds to days after the message was sent, I receive that message in empathy via my google talk account.
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
