Bug Description
I have a problem with the Mint 11 Bluetooth service. When I insert my adapter the Bluetooth icon appears in the Notification area but it is greyed out and the adapter remains inactive. Clicking on the icon indicates that Bluetooth is turned on as the option given is 'Turn Bluetooth Off'. On opening the preferences dialogue it states that Bluetooth is disabled. Clicking the 'Turn On Bluetooth' button has no effect other than greying out the button (see attach.). Boot up Manager shows Bluetooth service activated at start up.
I can only start the Bluetooth service manually by running the '/etc/init.
This fault is not present in Mint 10 nor did I have this issue when I previously ran Ubuntu 10.10 but it is present in Ubuntu 11.04. I have also run Mint 10 KDE and Xfce live discs and have not had this fault with either of them.

I came across the same issue on Ubuntu 12.04 beta2 when I switched to Xfce.
I could toggle the Bluetooth on and off but none of my previously pair Bluetooth devices/profiles were available.
Work-around:
1. Type the following on a Terminal console
sudo service bluetooth restart
2. Select Bluetooth icon on Xfce.
3. Verify existing Bluetooth devices/profiles now appear
I am using an external usb Bluetooth adapter.
