Invisible windows prevent mouse from interacting with any application or dialog window

I'd say, don't ask any longer for the video card ... this problem appears on my installed version of 11.04 (AMD255, Nvidia GTX460, GNOME2), as well as on the Live-CD on my moms Intel Core 2 Duo with an ATI card (Unity).

The only things, both system had in common was the 1920x1080 resolution, and the desktop-effects activated.
