Bug Description

I'm experiencing irregular lockups of my Efika MX Smartbook, which appear to be power-management related somehow.

Symptoms:
- The display becomes "frozen", with no corruption.
- The smartbook stops responding to any input, bar holding down the power button until it switches off completely.

More info:
- The lockups seemed to happen sooner when I was using xfce-power-manager, rather than gnome-power-manager (which leads me to believe it may be a power management/settings issue).
- The lockups occur whether on mains power or not.
- There are no relevant errors in any logs that I've been able to find. The last time I checked, the last log entry was a "gnome-power-backlight-helper" message (/var/log/auth.log), approx two minutes before the freeze (based on what the frozen panel clock showed). Any other entry was at least 10 minutes beforehand.
- It occurs even if I am not logged in, and only viewing one of the virtual terminals (at the login prompt). GDM was running in another VT though.

Please let me know what more information I can supply, or what I can try.

Okay, so I seem to have eliminated the issue by removing the (unused and unconfigured) SIM card which I left sitting in the machine (for want of somewhere better to keep it).

The machine's been running flawlessly for a couple of days since. How peculiar.

I have the same problems and I have got dmesg log.

My bug seems to be related to a bug that exists also on 2.6.3x kernels on amd64 and on 3.0.0 kernels (but here it does not hang the whole machine).

I'll test your workaround about the SIM card to see if it's related or not and then act on consequence.
