crashes Ubuntu's 4.0.1 Firefox (10.10 maverick 2.6.35-29-generic). novell-moonlight-3.99.0.3-i586.xpi works just fine in standard Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1.

NoOp: This bug is about providing newer Moonlight packages in Ubuntu.

Isn't what you are seeing the same as bug #602074? If not, please open another bug by running "ubuntu-bug firefox". Mention which page you are browsing when it crashes (or does it do at startup?). You should also see if there is already a bug report here:

http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight#Reporting_Bugs

and if not, open a new one and refer to that one in the Ubuntu bug.

Marius: 1) I realise that this bug is about providing newer Moonlight
packages in Ubuntu, hence my pointing out that the newer version crashes
Ubuntu Firefox, and 2) 602074 is not related - (U)Fx doesn't get that
far and crashes just trying to open.

I was simply pointing out that there are issue with Moonlight 4 Preview
& (U)Fx but not with Mozilla Fx. It was just a 'heads-up' that
novell-moonlight-3.99.0.3-i586.xpi doesn't work with (U)Fx. Can't report
the issue on launchpad/ubuntu-bug firefox as
novell-moonlight-3.99.0.3-i586.xpi isn't packaged/supported (as per
your/this bug report) & can't actually report it in
http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight#Reporting_Bugs as it works in
Mozilla Fx.

So anyway FWIW, heads up.

Well, I am unable to reproduce the problem in Natty (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 GTB7.1). Seems I got "novell-moonlight-3.99.0.3-i586.xpi",but about:plugins states "4.0.51204.0". Upgrading to Natty might solve the problem for you as well.

If it works fine with exactly the same version of Firefox as in your Ubuntu, it must be caused by the Ubuntu packaging/patching and then can be reported as bug here in FF, or if it works fine in newer versions of FF, then it should also be reportable here against FF.
