Clean install of Ubuntu 11.04 - No Sound - Speakers pop regularly

I had previously installed Ubuntu 11.04 on this machine from clean and sound worked fine. I was having video card problems, installed again and now no sound - just pops from my speaker.

Thanks for your bug report. Given the symptoms you have described, I am pretty sure this is a duplicate of bug #741825, so I will mark it as such. Please feel free to read that bug to get a better idea of the problem, but in short, recent changes to audio code in Ubuntu 11.04 have exposed a chipset bug.
