multitouch does not work in HP Slate 500 and Maverick

I found this message (https://lists.launchpad.net/multi-touch-dev/msg00218.html) saying that multi-touch should work 'out of the box' for n-trig hardware in maverick, and that if it does not... to report a bug. So here is the bug. It does not work 'out of the box' for the HP Slate 500.

If it helps, multi-touch *does* work 'out of the box' in Natty (but unfortunately the graphics drivers, which are closed, do not... which is why this is still an issue).

I will report additional information if I am able to find any.

Currently, the system freezes whenever I touch the screen. It appears to occur only after the next input event on N-Trig device, whether I touch the screen a second time, or a bring the pen to the screen.
