Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot. Seems to be similar to bug #796346, needs more details.

It indeed seems similar, though, when I had this issue, I couldn't get it to become non-transparent again. Forcing a redraw as mentioned in that other bug doesn't work.

As I'm using Gnome Classic, this issue won't be in 11.10 (by default)
Next to that, it seems that the issue has been resolved on my pc/laptop running 11.04 as well.
