Bug Description

The workflow to close several windows right after another is unnecessary complex:
 - Jam mouse to the top left
 -> Click Icon
 -> Choose window
 -> Click close button
 -> [repeat].

The gnome 3 shell displays an additional close button on the (top right) corner of every window in the exposition which allows closing it without leaving the exposition. I would suggest to exactly copy that usage pattern.

Until that's fixed you should enable scale addons in ccsm so you can close windows with the middle button.

this worked in Ubuntu 10.10 but was not implemented on the move to compiz. I believe not much was touched last cycle on the expose front of Compiz for Unity. I expect that to change for Oneiric (my statement is not official its just a guess ;)

adding ayatana-design as affects and marking the bug as incomplete as we wait for design.

Wow, the middle click close is awesome. That should really be included default in Unity.

This is a issue we are very much aware of, unfortunately we don't have the resources for fix this issue in the 12.04 cycle, however it is on our radar and will be solved in a subsequent release. Marking 'opinion' because the solution will be part of a larger body of new functionality, and the exact desired solution and visual design is not included in this bug report. Unity is still a work in progress, we have not built all of it's main components yet...
