Bug Description

Ubuntu 11.04. Issue did not occur for 10.10 and earlier versions.

Occasionally, after waking up from screensaver, the screen remains black. The mouse cursor is visible and can be moved around, it will even change where a text input box might be, but the screen does not get rendered. I can switch back and forth to text consoles, but can't seem to get the GUI back without killing X.

Repeatedly happens for me on two machines:
- Dell Studio 1558
- HP Pavillion p6367c

Attached the apport file for the HP.

What video card driver do you have in use?

HINT: If you do 'lspci -v' in a terminal, the info will be listed under the line 'VGA compatible controller'.

i915 on both systems. Also - disabling power management circumvents this issue. So the bug appears to be related to power management with the i915 driver.

Assigning package. The xorg team may move it somewhere more specific if they feel necessary.
