Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

Feisty with ubuntu-docs 7.01.1
checking at libdvdread3,
 * Removed install-css.sh which is useless since we have binary packages
    on debian-unofficial.org (Closes: #390544).

But still, ubuntu-docs indicate that dvd decryption can be activated by using:
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh
which will not work as install-css.sh is not shipped anymore.

Not fixed in trunk either.

The debian package readme points to http://ftp.debian-unofficial.org/debian/pool/main/libd/libdvdcss/ but the faq on that site says:
"7.4. Do the packages work on Ubuntu?

Maybe, I don't know. If somebody provides the packages, I may will host them here. "

RestrictedFormats points users here: http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/deb/ to get the package manually.

@ Matt Zimmerman: seeking your help again here - can you assist with what the proper method for activating DVD decryption support will be in Feisty?

For your reference, this is what the documentation recommends in Dapper/Edgy: https://help.ubuntu.com/6.10/ubuntu/desktopguide/C/dvdplayback.html

Will Ubuntu be restoring the install-css.sh script or providing another method for DVD playback?

The documentation has changed for Feisty - could someone review it and see if the instructions are correct?

Can someone provide a link to the current stuff for review?

(why couldn't we just put the script back?)

The script was put back in the package as of version 0.9.7-2ubuntu1.

libdvdread (0.9.7-2ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low

  * Re-add missing install-css.sh, after fixing flaws from Debian #390544,
    (LP: #77097).
  * debian/control: adjust Maintainer field, add Suggests for install-css.sh
  * debian/rules: install install-css.sh, leave perms executable.

Current state of the docs in Feisty:

http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/musicvideophotos/C/video.html#video-dvd

The docs still use that script.
