Bug Description

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

This is a regression bug. Pulseaudio was formerly working on Ubuntu 10.04.

There is now in Ubuntu 11.04 no sound via digital output of a Soundcard "HDA ATI SB" with chip Realtek ALC889A.

I expected to have stereo sound output via IEC 958 HDMI connection. This was happening in Ubuntu 10.04.

Thanks for your bug report. Could you plesae run the following command in a terminal, so we can get some more information about your hardware. "apport-collect 784784".

I have the following graphics drivers in use:
- nvidia (ubuntu 10.04)
- nouveau (ubuntu 11.04)

Hope this and apport helps!

It seems to me that this is a nouveau graphics driver issue and that nv (proprietary nvidia driver) has a HDMI Audio component.
Nouveau seems to have no HDMI Audio driver capabilities.

Should this bug be redirected to package nouveau?

leder (gerrit-leder) wrote :

confirmed that audio is working with driver nv activated!

Though "additional drivers" program detects nv as "activated, but not in use"!

Now sound via DVI/HDMI is o. k. with stereo configuration.

Plz redirect to package nouveau or close this issue, for nv driver can be used as a workaround!
